Meet Us at Public Events
Science does not belong only in laboratories! Come and discover how materials can surprise, entertain and fascinate you.
We are always happy to share the fascinating world of materials with the wider public. That is why we regularly take part in science outreach events such as Researchers’ Night, the Science and Technology Festival, Open Days at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, VUT Happening and other events.
At our stands, you will meet members of the ÚMVI team and PhD students, who will introduce you to the fascinating field of materials engineering through live demonstrations, interactive experiments and engaging hands-on activities.
What can materials do? Why are some materials ductile while others are brittle? How do their properties change during heating or quenching? What lies beneath the surface of materials, and what can a microscope reveal about them? Come and explore, experiment and discover with us!
Where Can You Meet Us?
Researchers’ Night
Every year, we take part in Researchers’ Night, preparing a programme that connects materials science with the main theme of that year's event. Through experiments and interactive demonstrations, we will show you that materials have a lot to tell us!
Science and Technology Festival
At the Science and Technology Festival, you can look forward to fun experiments, surprising demonstrations and the opportunity to try out selected scientific techniques for yourself. Our programme is designed for children, parents, students and anyone with an interest in science and technology.
Open Days at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
During the Faculty's Open Days, we introduce visitors not only to the study opportunities available, but also to the research and advanced technologies we work with at our institute. Come and discover what it is like to be a materials engineer and what you could learn with us.
We look forward to meeting you! Check the latest event programmes and stop by our stand. We will be delighted to show you that the world of materials is far more fascinating than it might seem at first glance.
