The Department of Metal Materials focuses on education and research in materials engineering of metals – from physical metallurgy and advanced surface engineering (Cold Spray, electron beam) to heat treatment, metal matrix composites, and special alloys for demanding industrial applications.

Department of Ceramics and Polymers

The Department of Ceramics and Polymers focuses on the development (design, processing and characterization) of advanced ceramic, polymer, and composite materials for specific applications, primarily in the fields of medicine, energy, and environmental protection.

Department of Structural and Phase Analysis

The department focuses on research and analysis of the structure and chemical as well as phase composition of metallic and non-metallic materials; in these areas it also provides teaching and simultaneously offers expert and instrumental support to other departments and workplaces.

Department of Mechanics and Design of Materials

The Department of Mechanics and Design of Materials is focused on basic and applied research into the relationships between the microstructural and mechanical characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials under various mechanical loading conditions.
